Dead Sea Development Company “DSDC” has announced the winning Bidder for the Master plan of the Dead Sea Development Zone “ International Consortium of Sasaki ), during a press conference held at the company headquarters on Wednesday, 30/6/2010, in the presence of HE Dr. Bilal Al Bashir , Chief Commissioner of Development Zones Commission , H.E.
Mr. Saleh Kilani Chairman of DSDC Board, and H.E. Dr. Taha Zboun, CEO of the Dead Sea Development company and Sasaki, consortium winner of the tender, and representatives of the press.
H.E. DR. Zboun said " launching the Master Plan for the Dead Sea development zone, is an essential step in the pursuit of the Royal visions of His majesty King Abdulla II to develop the Dead Sea Zone to achieve a renaissance in construction and economical development by promoting the potentials of the Zone and make it a suitable location for work, life and leisure, and a clean environment with local sustainable developments. Hence comes the need to prepare the master plan to help create the development strategy and a detailed view of the quality of investment volumes, which seeks to develop the Dead Sea to help attract investment and ensure efficiency and at the same time preserving the region and the characteristics of environmental and natural resources within the framework of sustainable development "
The importance of this Announcement comes from the fact that the master plan is the basis for a sound investment map based on the overall development of the region and its inhabitants and facilitate the investment process. the master plan aims to identify the development projects within the area of the Dead Sea for different uses to create a development and investment projects and a broad scale than the Broader line adjacent to the sea and are concentrated where the majority of projects currently are, and in mountain areas overlooking the sea from the north and north-east, in areas down South following the hotel district is currently built on lands located within the vicinity of the Swaimeh village ,It will also prepare an outline for the detailed developments of Swaimeh including the establishment of a central service center, bus station, as well as a central hotel training institute, takes upon itself the rehabilitation of local Forces and their integration into the existing investment projects and the future ones.
The master plan will include:
The preparation of conceptual designs for the infrastructure works required to service the Dead Sea area in general, and the developed projects in particular.
The preparation of plans and detailed studies of the work of general improvements to the region, which include:
- Design a promenade and tourist areas and adjacent to the beach .
- Maintenance of existing public beaches, and the establishment of new ones in order to activate the local tourism .
- Design a public park with a capacity of absorbing high recreational and educational elements characteristic to be one of the outposts that attract local tourism
- Link the Dead Sea through a new road linked to the current swaimeh village artery to create a new development in the region increases the chances of interaction with the local community and secure new investment opportunities.
DSDC stated that the company will hold a visioning workshop to develop the vision of the master plan for the Dead Sea Development Zone for the next 25 years , all stakeholders and relevant parties will be invited to participate, including all public institutions and departments concerned and all investors, companies and interested parties to invest in the Dead Sea, locally, regionally and globally, to be consulted and involved in the preparation phase of the Master Plan of the Dead Sea Development Zone.
The Master Plan will also include the standards for planning and architecture for the entire study area to ensure the preservation of the natural environment and historical Dead Sea area and personal architectural distinctive and harmonious with the characteristics of this area, as well as develop these standards basis equal to assess future investment in terms of relevance and respect for all the determinants of technical and planning complementary scheme totalitarian environmental and investment aspects . It is expected that the completion of the preliminary master plan for the Dead Sea development Zone "Conceptual Master Plan" will be within three months.
